Jamie Goatley Brighton

If you have an antique item to sell and want a quick settlement, then selecting the best antiques dealer is essential in realising the true value of your items. You may be in a hurry to settle a bill, finance a new car or move and often items of jewellery are handed down generations for safe keeping but all they do is sit in safes or cost a fortune to insure every year in high net worth insurance policies. Jamie Goatley can use his network of dealers and private collectors as well as his vast personal knowledge to purchase or give appraisals for antiquities of all descriptions. The following are antiques within his remit:

  1. fine antiques
  2. objet d’art
  3. jewellery, diamonds, saphires, pearls, rubys, emeralds,
  4. watches
  5. gold
  6. Sculpture

Going to a dealer can provide a quick sale without the need for paying for advertising, photography, listing etc. Sometimes the option of using a dealer and his contacts can realise a better price from collectors/dealer who want your items for their collection and are willing to pay. It also negates the need to pay for transport etc especially when something is fragile or worth a substantial amount of money.

Also remember that you will never get a retail price from a dealer. Retail outlets very rarely get retail prices! They are there as a starting point for negotiation and remember everyone has to make a small profit along the way. By using an antiques dealer you are going to save a lot of hassle and get instant payment and so really that is the service you are paying for along with the dealers experience, knowledge and contacts.

Dealers deal with dealers and public all the time and often don’t make a profit but pass something on which keeps the relationship open and contact there for when something of interest with a small profit does come their way.

Retail outlets also have overheads, advertising fees, insurance and all the other business costs which have to be paid for somehow. Because a dealer offers you less than you have seen in the shop window don’t think that they are making hefty profits…..its hard work often with little reward, however the lover of antiques and the deal usually drives most experts on his Blog.
